Louise Dawe joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University as an assistant professor in July 2013. She was promoted to associate professor in 2018 and full professor in 2026. She has co-authored over 140 peer reviewed publications and is known for her expertise in small molecule X-ray crystallography. She is the past-chair of the Canadian National Committee for Crystallography, the organizer for our national Canadian Chemical Crystallography Workshops, and a member of the International Union of Crystallography Executive Committee. She is also a main editor for the IUCr publication Acta Crystallographica Section B: Structural Science, Crystal Engineering and Materials and a teaching and education editor for the Journal of Applied Crystallography. She was delighted to co-chair the International Program Committee for the 2026 IUCr Congress and General Assembly, which was hosted in Calgary, Canada!

She has received Laurier’s 2014 Residence Academic Partner Award, Laurier’s Faculty of Science Early Career (2016) and Established Career (2023) Awards for Teaching Excellence and Laurier’s 2025 Faculty Award for Service Excellence and Community Engagement.

Louise has a lot of enthusiasm for teaching and crystallography!
